Monday 1st July - walk **** – Orwell Country Park with a picnic by the Orwell – sunny periods.

Out at 6 this morning to take a few weather pics to send to the TV and the day started cloudy so looked for things with some colour, yellow beach huts and flowers at Landguard Fort. There was a hint of enough offshore breeze for a foil but we had loads to do so didn’t bother, especially as its looking better later in the week and the tides will be better! So did my exercises I the garden with the sun making an appearance, I packed a picnic before we headed out to pick up a very heavy free pot for Mags front garden before heading to Lidl for a big shop. I wanted to see if Sports Direct to see if they had a Gul impact/boucancy vest we went to one of our favourites first, Orwell Country Park. We walked it the other way around again by heading back across the A 14 and through the windy path through the woods, over a clear stream, then we heard a helicopter circling and spotted the police one searching overhead, in fact it did several circuit before disappearing. We came out by the Orwell Bridge and there were two search boats out on the water so something was definitely up? We didn’t walk past the small holding this time with its many animals and took the river path under the impressive bridge, stopping to say hello to 3 fine horses. The tide was very low and there were several birds I the mud, mainly gulls, but we did spot several herons and a shell duck with swans on the other side of the Orwell. We sit in a nice sheltered spot opposite Stoke Sailing club with views across the water of Freston tower, there were several yachts motoring up and down, it was very quiet today and we hardly saw anyone:) With the tide low we continued along the foreshore before turning onto the woodland path as a tree has fallen on the beach, in fact there are several on the verge of going:( We then turned away from the river, up through the pine wood to the car park where there was several police and coast guard vehicles search apparently for a missing man after his car was found nearby:( It was then a quick trip to Sports Direct and B & Q both turning out to be completely useless and hope to never go there again! Wow sport on the TV is really getting on my nerves, firstly boring football and now the tennis on two BBC channels which is even worse, will be pleased when it is all over!
